Borton Studying with U.S. Dept. of Energy

Coriana Borton, a senior majoring in Forensic Chemistry and Forensic Biology, writes about her experiences this summer learning about nuclear and radiochemistry at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven National Laboratory:

English Alumni Spotlight: Mercedes (McGee) Over

Alumna Returns as 16th Century Pirate

AU Theatre alumna Karen Vuranch returns to Ashland next week to portray the 16th Century pirate queen, Grace O'Malley, at Ashland Chautauqua's Oceans, Rivers and Seas.  Her first-person historical portrayal will be performed on Wednesday, July 18 at 8 p.m. on the Guy C. Myers Memorial Band Shell stage at Brookside Park. Environmental Science Major Working as Natural Resource Intern

Environmental Science/Biology major Tyler Theaker, is interning at the Gorman Nature Center this summer in Natural Resources. His position mostly involves
exotic/invasive species control, assisting in surveying and monitoring biotic inventories of park properties, assisting with preventative maintenance of power equipment and other heavy machinery, as well as Trail maintenance. READ MORE

JDM Upgrading Audio and Video Editing Lab


With the help of the College of Arts and Sciences and the IT department, JDM is renovating the aging, smallish Mac editing room. John Skrada, JDM Director of Broadcasting and Operations, and Dr. Dave McCoy, Chair and Associate Professor of Journalism and Digital Media, developed a plan to knock down a block wall that separated 139 CFA (Mac Lab) and 140 CFA (equipment storage room), gut both rooms, install 17 new computer work stations and develop a modern teaching presentation area in the expanded space. The new JDM Audio/Video Lab will be fully operational for Fall 2018 classes. Here is a photo of the demolition phase of the two rooms. FULL STORY

Toxicology Major Interning with the Ohio EPA


Toxicology major Hayley Nininger is applying her research skills in her summer internship with the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. She reports, "This internship has already given me so many great experiences and I cannot wait for more of them! I have already learned so much and I am so grateful!
